Whiskey Deaf

Whiskey Deaf
Whiskey Deaf plays a lively mix of lesser known traditional bluegrass, old-time and early country tunes, and brings together a unique blend of styles and talents. All of the members are seasoned professionals, but most importantly they share a genuine joy playing this music, and it comes through in every performance – we guarantee you’ll leave the show with a smile on your face!
Stage center is Annie Staninec, whose exuberant fiddle playing and infectious joy has been lighting up the stage internationally since she was 12, touring with everyone from David Grisman to Rod Stewart. Leading up many of the vocals and playing mandolin is Ethan Lawton, who is also a founding member of the highly acclaimed band Western Centuries. On banjo and vocals is the lightning-fingered Jamie Blair, who has been playing bluegrass since he was a wee child and is a favorite in the northwest. On guitar is John Kael, and IBMA award-winning songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has been performing and teaching for over 20 years, and on bass is Dee Johnson, a mainstay in numerous northwest bluegrass bands and no stranger to the bluegrass festival stage.
